1998 Eleventh Annual Pediatric Critical Care Colloquium

Invitation:

Dear Colleague:

The members of the Division of Critical Care at Hope Children's Hospital invite you to join us for the Eleventh Annual Pediatric Critical Care Colloquium in Chicago, Illinois, September 16-20, 1998. The PCCC has always been a forum for the most recent advances in pediatric intensive care practice, and as we look to the new millennium we will also explore how the practice of pediatric intensive care medicine is evolving in an ever changing healthcare environment.

The Colloquium will be held from Wednesday evening through Saturday night. We have a full schedule of abstract presentations, poster presentations, and plenary sessions. The planning committee has also arranged several events that should allow you to fully enjoy our exciting and beautiful city.

Registration will begin Wednesday afternoon followed by a reception. The reception will end early in the evening, allowing you time to sample some of the nightlife in Chicago.

Thursday will be a full day of abstract presentations, a plenary session on "The Evolution of Pediatric Intensive Care Practice - Models of Practice", and poster presentations in the evening. The lunch break on Thursday will be a time for committees of the SCCM and AAP to meet. Those not involved in the meetings will have an opportunity to enjoy lunch at one of the many fine restaurants in the city.

Friday morning will include more abstract presentations as well as a plenary session on "Pediatric Head Trauma." In the afternoon, we will have an outing to the Chicago Cubs vs Cincinatti Reds game at the world famous Wrigley Field. The outing will include transportation to and from the game. If you are interested in participating in this outing please mark the area on your registration form indicating your interest, and the number of tickets you will need. We will provide more details, including cost, in your reservation confirmation packet. Friday night will remain open allowing you more time to explore Chicago.

Saturday will include a full day of abstract presentations, and plenary sessions. The morning plenary session will focus on Pediatric Trauma Care. After lunch we will have our final plenary session: "The Financial Structure of Pediatric Critical Care." This in an area in which many of our peers have expressed much interest, and we feel will have a direct impact on how we practice in the future. That night we will end the Colloquium with a Caribbean dinner cruise on Lake Michigan, giving us all an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful night skyline of Chicago.

Hope Children's Hospital is excited to be hosting the Colloquium, and we hope to see you in September, as we look to the new millennium!
