    • AAP Section on Critical Care: 2007 New Investigator Research Award (unfortunately, no award will be available in 2008 due to budget restraints.)

      The American Academy of Pediatrics' Section on Critical Care is pleased once again to fund a New Investigator Research Award. The 2007 award will be for $10,000 and is available to section members during their pediatric critical care fellowship, or within 2 years of completing an accredited critical care fellowship. The award, which is competitive, will provide support to an individual who has demonstrated aptitude for clinical or basic science research and who presents a sound plan of investigation. Section on Critical Care membership is required.

      The award will be judged on scientific merit, clarity of presentation, likelihood of productivity by the investigator, sponsor's evidence of appropriate academic environment, and relevance to critical care.

    The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, PCICS, was formed to provide an optimum forum to promote excellence in pediatric cardiac critical care medicine. We have joined together from diverse backgrounds, organized a professional society, and now launch our inaugural membership campaign. The Society seeks international participation by healthcare professionals dedicated to acquiring knowledge and improving practice for our critically ill patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.

    The 7th International Symposium of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Society will be held in Miami from December 2-6, 2008.

    Online registration and abstract submission are now open.

    The PCICS annual event will provide several unique and prosperous opportunities to interact with a wide range of healthcare professionals including physicians, fellows in training, and nursing staff.
